Wetherby Station Gets a Makeover!

Project Support Officer Oceane Dupont recently led the Enhancing Wetland at Wetherby Station Project, which left the land adorned with 1200 additional trees.

What began with a weed and vegetation assessment from the Kuku Djungan Muluridji ranger team in early April, led to two days of tree planting to restore the native vegetation around the wetland.

On April 26 and 28, the turnout evolved into a highly collaborative community event, engaging about 24 volunteers from TREAT and 27 school kids.

The project also offered the opportunity to celebrate landholder John’s birthday with cake, an extended smoko and smiles all round.

This project is funded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation through the Community Sustainability Action Grants Program.
