nrm plan: Invasive weeds

Have your say: Planning for invasive weeds

Invasive weeds have the potential to significantly impact our region’s natural resources. Weed species can financially impact our region’s agricultural and pastoral businesses by increasing costs or reducing productivity.

By substantially increasing fuel loads, introduced grasses (such as Gamba and Grader grass) can result in worse fires, which in turn places greater strain on our wildlife and landscapes. Invasive species such as Rubber Vine can alter critical habitat along our riverbanks, and introduced aquatic weeds have the potential to dramatically impact the health and accessibility of our region’s waterways.

This issue is ranked as a high priority for natural resource management (NRM) across the Northern Gulf region.
