Expert Advice on Herd Profitability

Learn from an industry expert on the business of breeding herds at a free two-day workshop organised by Gulf Savannah NRM.

The workshop, at the Grey Galah BnB in Georgetown on Thursday 30 – Friday 31 May, will be led by Dr Geoffry Fordyce who has studied the northern Australian cattle industry for more than 40 years.

Drought Resilience Coordinator Kasmin Brotherton said the free event was an opportunity for attendees to talk about their own businesses and learn how to improve herd profitability.

‘This is a chance for graziers to hear from one of the region’s most knowledgeable experts on the cattle industry. Over the course of two days, we will cover topics including decision-making for breeding herds, the data you need to inform those decisions as well as causes and solutions for calf loss.’

Registration for the workshop is required by visiting bit.ly/herd-business-decisions.

Refreshments will be provided and include morning tea and lunch. Some accommodation has been reserved at the venue for participants (at their own cost). For more information contact Kasmin Brotherton on 0428 913 614 or kasmin.brotherton@gulfsavannahnrm.org.
