Story by Océane Dupont, GSNRM Biodiversity Officer
Following the 2025 NRM Conference in Cairns, 18 participants continued their conversations in the field by joining a two-day field trip co-hosted by Gulf Savannah NRM and Terrain NRM.
The trip highlighted the diversity of our landscapes, from rainforest to savannah. NRM project officers, botanists and Indigenous rangers shared their insights about working in wet sclerophyll forests, protecting threatened vine thickets and supporting sustainable agriculture locally.
Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to immerse deeper into our unique region and meet iconic local species such as spectacle flying foxes and northern bettongs, not to mention some elusive birds spotted on the way.
