From bugs to barbeque, kids in Croydon have a day to remember

Giant bugs, soil explosions, original artworks and farm-to-table field games all came together for Gulf Kids Day 2025.

On August 28, the usually quiet town of Croydon was buzzing with energy as 122 students from five schools explored science, the arts and agriculture through hands-on workshops and outdoor games.

The event also featured a barbeque extravaganza, serving over 30 kilograms of fresh food to hungry participants.

This year’s theme — World Environment Day — inspired engaging activities designed to teach students about sustainability while having fun in the sun; from interactive experiments to creative art projects, the day offered something for every young learner.

Gulf Kids is an annual event hosted by GSNRM, growing in reach and impact each year. It continues to provide youth from the furthest corners of our region with learning experiences that spark curiosity and a love for the environment.
